Arashiyama Jinrikisha

Went to Arashiyama again at the weekend! While there I went to four temples, one shrine and a fashion exhibition. It`s going to take me a while to sort through all the photos but below is a photo of a Japanese couple in a *Jinrikisha. I love how you can see they really appreciate the beauty of the momiji.

First day of advent!

The countdown to Christmas starts today! This would usually consist of me opening the first window on an advent calendar and eating the chocolate. But, they don`t exist in Japan. Well, they do, but behind the window isn`t a piece of chocolate but a picture.

However, a while ago I found this cute advent calendar where you can buy your own chocolate to put in. Yesterday I bought some chocolate and put three pieces in each pocket, one for each of us. However J didn`t quite understand it and thought we were supposed to eat them all on christmas day! After buying the chocolates we went to Shinshindou bakery and I bought a father christmas bread which I had for my breakfast this morning.

Then this afternoon I had fun going christmas shopping! At this time of year in England I often see people walking around with the tell tale roll of wrapping paper sticking out of their plastic bag. However I haven't seen this this in Japan, so while walking home I got quite a few funny looks as if my roll of wrapping paper was in fact a banner waving in the wind saying 'I believe in Father Christmas!'

Tokyo window displays

I still have so many things I havn`t blogged about yet from my trip to Tokyo in October. Here is a quick post with some photos I took of window displays along Omotesando. I love looking at how different stores arange their windows, unfortunately it is really hard to take pictures because of the reflections on the glass. The Coach window display caught my eye because of all the gold origami cranes. The Tommy Hilfiger window had an amazing arch of books, it looks like lots of separate books but surely it must all be one instalation for it to stay together? The Tod`s window was my favourite because it is so simple but it really stands out. I like how the Louis Vuitton display looks like a corridor of a fancy hotel. The final photo is a shop display I liked with a camper van.
