Stay with me, cause you're all I need...

Yesterday I met up with my best friends, Sophie and Abbie. After lunch (delicious pizza made by Sophie) we went around the charity shops. Of course sometimes charity shops are just full of granny clothes but sometimes you can find some great bargains!

Unfortunately it wasn't my day though. I found a trench coat which fitted perfectly but it had stains around the collar and on one sleeve. I also tried on a lovely New Look dress but it was too tight across the shoulders. I've had this problem a few times so I must have wide shoulders!

Then in the afternoon we had this little photo shoot in the garden! I bought the shorts from Simone Hooper at Spitalfields Market in London. I could have bought way more from her stall, there were so many nice shorts and skirts in really pretty prints.

 Aren't we just so sophisticated...

I wish they could both stay with me when I go to uni

One of my favourite Sam Smith songs, his voice is just amazing.

Are you also a bargain hunter?!

Travel Tuesday: John Lewis 150 Years

This year is John Lewis' 150th anniversary and to celebrate they have a special roof garden and exhibition in the Oxford Street store. "The rooftop has been transformed with a mix of traditional and contemporary garden design elements into a place for you to relax, take in the view of the London skyline, and enjoy a series of events"

The garden is really pretty and has a lovely relaxing atmosphere, a great place to rest your weary legs while shopping! To boost your energy levels there is Joe & the Juice. I had a delicious 'sports juice' with passion fruit, pineapple and apple.

After enjoying the roof garden be sure to visit the Stories of a Shopkeeper exhibition on level 3, which tells the really interesting history of John Lewis, including how one of Britain's most notorious murderers was convicted by a pair of their pajamas!

The roof garden and exhibition finish on August 31st so make some time to visit this week!

Isn't that telephone just so gorgeous!

These two dresses were inside the shop in the dressmaking section. Not sure whether they were anything to do with the 150 years but I liked them, plus the girl in the background on the right!

Have you ever been to a roof garden like this?

Southbank Centre Festival of Love

I first read about the Festival of Love in this post by Amanda. I thought it looked fun and loved the look of all the bright colours so decided to check it out while in London.

The Festival of Love is being held at The Southbank Centre and is an event to celebrate the Same Sex Couple Act and all types of human relationships. There are various artworks, instalations and events everyday, the main event being the Big Wedding Weekend Saturday 30th and Sunday 31st.

This festival finishes at the end of August so if you havn't been yet then I would recommend you go down to see what it's all about!

Had you heard of The Festival of Love before?

Cosmo Buffet

Last week, the day before I went to London, I met up with my two best friends and we went out for lunch. Recently a branch of the pan-asian buffet restaurant, Cosmo, opened in York and we all wanted to see what it was like.

If you look on Tripadvisor the reviews are mixed. It's like Marmite, you either love it or you hate it. Well we all loved it! There was loads of choice and it was great to try lots of different food, overall a really fun experience.

However I will say that I can see why it doesn't appeal to some people. It's more suited to a meal out with family or friends rather than a romantic date. Also the quality of some of the food isn't great. I steered clear of the pizza and pasta because I they are both very filling but apparently they're not the best. I stuck with the Japanese, Chinese and Indian all of which I really enjoyed. Oh and also the cakes and sweets!

It's really reasonable, £8.49 for an adult at lunch and £10.99 in the evening, all you can eat. If you like trying different types of food from around the world and have a big appetite then I would recommend here!

We all loved this mixed beans dish!

The 'display only' sign was for some jars of sweets! However there were other sweets you could eat!

What do you think about buffets?

Jean Paul Gaultier Exhibition

The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier: From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk at London Barbican is the first major exhibition devoted to the French couturier. I have been to many fashion exhibitions but this was by far one of the most interestingly staged ones I have seen. There was a conveyor belt with mannequins on to give the impression of a catwalk and even talking and singing mannequins!

There were over 165 garments including many iconic pieces such as his breton tops, punk collections and of course the infamous conical corsets Madonna wore during her Blonde Ambition World Tour. Unlike exhibitions at the V&A, photography was allowed. Although it was quite dark and flash wasn't allowed so sorry for the poor quality of some of the photos.

This exhibition finishes on August 25th, so if you live in London and have the chance to go in the next few days I would definitely recommend it! Adults are £14.50, but if you have a national railcard then you can get a 2 for 1 offer here

This was my favourite outfit because the back is stunning. At first I thought it was a dress but it's actually a jersey top and black high waisted trousers.

 The moving catwalk!
