My favourite travel photo

This is my first time to take part in this travel link-up and this months theme is your favourite travel photo. As soon as I read that I knew exactly which photo I would choose. I took this photo practically one year ago to the day. It was in the lead up to Gion Matsuri which is one of the biggest festivals in Japan.

I had only been living in Japan for one week and was still settling down. As I was cycling home I passed Kyoto city hall and saw a crowd of people in costumes so I went over to see what was happening. There was an amazing performance with lots of dancing but for me the best part was afterwards when everyone was relaxing.

I captured this photo of these cute girls drinking apple juice and I smile every time I see it! For me it is such a great memory of my first week in Japan.

Do you have a favourite travel photo with special memories?

  1. This is the second photo I have seen in the link up and I have to say you have both given me a serious case of wanderlust. Your photo is just stunning - I LOVE IT!!! It should be in the travel magazine x

  3. That is a great photo! I mean it could be in a magazine, it's absolutely beautiful with the colours and the framing and it also gives a good look into a culture and yet still making it approachable as the girls are doing something most kids their age do, drink out of juice boxes. Amazing!

    1. Thanks Camila! I'm glad you think that. I had lots of photos of them dancing but I loved this one because, despite the costumes, they're doing something very normal!

  4. They say that a picture is worth 1,000 words, but this is so strong it doesn't need any explanation. I love images that capture moments like this!
